1.Geographical Location
The beautiful, tropical Hainan Island is often described as the “Hawaii” of China. Hainan Island is China’s most southern territory, with Viet Nam to the west and Taiwan and the Philippines to the east. Hainan Province is the only tropical island province in China and it lies in the central part of the Asian Pacific Economic Circle. Hainan Province administers the islets and reefs of Xisha, Nansha, Zhongsha and their surrounding waters. This attractive tropical island is just 50 minutes by air from Hong Kong and its modern capital city of Haikou is just two or three hours from nearby foreign countries and regions.
2.Climate
Hainan Island’s climate is characterized as monsoon tropical. Average annual temperature is 22 to 26 C (average 76 degrees F), with an average annual rainfall of 1500-1600 mm (about 60 inches). More than 300 days a year are filled with sunshine. Hainan is popular with tourists who seek a good place to escape cold winters, find relief from hot summers, or simply to enjoy a pleasurable spot for vacations and holidays.
3.Ecological Environment
Hainan Island boasts a well-protected natural environment, with forests covering 51.5% of the island. There are five designated tropical primeval forest areas on Hainan Island: Wuzhishan Forest Area, Bawangling Forest Area, Jianfengling Forest Area, Diaoluoshan Forest Area. and Limushan.
4.Tourist resources
Hainan Island offers an unforgettable paradise for tourists. You are greeted upon arrival by blue skies, white clouds, bright sunshine, as well as a long coastline with many bays, white sandy beaches, coconut scenery, a geothermal hot spring, cultural relics, rare animals and plants, and the charming surrounding seas. A.E. Saviqnac, former Secretary General of the World Tourist Organization, commenting on his visit, “Hainan is a beautiful pearl of China, possessing the most precious resources of China. Hainan is to China as the Mediterranean is to Europe and Hawaii and Florida are to America”.
Francesco Frangialli, the Secretary General of the World Tourist Organization, also set a high value on the tourism of Hainan during his visit. He said that he would help Hainan become recognized worldwide as a holiday paradise for all tourists from home and abroad.
5. Traffic and Communication of Hainan Island
Hainan has two major airports. The largest and newest airport is the Haikou Meilan International Airport serving Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Burma, as well as the capitals of the important provinces and cities of China. The Sanya Phoenix International Airport serves Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Seoul, Osaka, Tokyo, Siberia, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan. The two airports combined serve more than 70 domestic and international air routes.
